Frequently Asked Questions
Is Rx EnroMed 100 FDA approved?
Yes. Rx EnroMed 100 is FDA approved for use in cattle and swine as indicated on the label.
Does EnroMed require a prescription?
Yes. EnroMed is a prescription antimicrobial and must be used by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
What is EnroMed used for?
EnroMed is used to treat and control bovine respiratory disease (BRD) in cattle, swine respiratory disease (SRD), and to control colibacillosis in weaned swine when diagnosed.
How does EnroMed work?
EnroMed contains enrofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antimicrobial that inhibits bacterial DNA replication, helping stop the growth and spread of susceptible bacteria.
What is Bovine Respiratory Disease (BRD)?
Bovine Respiratory Disease (BRD) is a complex respiratory condition affecting the lungs and airways of cattle. It is commonly associated with stressors such as transport, weaning, commingling, or weather changes, combined with viral and bacterial infections. Cattle with BRD may show signs such as coughing, nasal discharge, fever, reduced feed intake, and labored breathing. When bacterial pathogens are involved, antimicrobial therapy may be required under veterinary direction.
What is Swine Respiratory Disease (SRD)?
Swine Respiratory Disease (SRD) refers to respiratory infections in pigs that can involve one or more bacterial pathogens. These infections often affect the lungs and respiratory tract and may be influenced by environmental stress, stocking density, ventilation, and co-infections. Common signs can include coughing, nasal discharge, reduced weight gain, and increased mortality in affected groups.
What is colibacillosis?
Colibacillosis is an intestinal disease caused by pathogenic strains of Escherichia coli, most commonly affecting young or recently weaned pigs. The disease can lead to diarrhea, dehydration, weakness, and poor growth performance. Veterinary diagnosis is important to confirm bacterial involvement and guide appropriate treatment and control measures.
