Avian Encephalomyelitis-Fowl Pox-Pigeon Pox Vaccine

Avian Encephalomyelitis-Fowl Pox-Pigeon Pox Vaccine is a live, freeze-dried vaccine propagated in chicken embryos for administration by wing web in chickens. It combines avian encephalomyelitis, fowl pox, and pigeon pox virus fractions in a single preparation to help protect healthy chickens against clinical signs associated with virulent field strains of avian encephalomyelitis and fowl pox viruses.

Recommended for healthy chickens 8 weeks of age or older and at least 4 weeks before the start of lay.

Features:

  • 3-Way Vaccine: Combines avian encephalomyelitis, fowl pox, and pigeon pox virus fractions in one preparation.
  • Live Virus Vaccine: Freeze-dried, chicken embryo-propagated vaccine.
  • Wing Web Administration: Designed specifically for administration through the exposed wing web.
  • 1,000 Doses: Each vaccine vial contains 1,000 doses.
  • Vaccinator Included: Includes one 2-pronged applicator for wing web administration.

Directions:

Important: Do not open or rehydrate the vaccine until ready to begin vaccination. Use the rehydrated vaccine immediately.

  • Tear off the aluminum seal from the vial containing the freeze-dried vaccine.
  • Lift off the rubber stopper.
  • Remove the seal and stopper from the diluent bottle. Each diluent bottle contains 10 mL of diluent.
  • Pour half of the diluent into the vial containing the freeze-dried vaccine.
  • Replace the rubber stopper and shake the vaccine vial.
  • Pour the partially dissolved vaccine into the diluent bottle with the remaining diluent.
  • Replace the rubber stopper and shake vigorously until the vaccine is completely dissolved.

The vaccine is now ready for administration. Follow the directions carefully for best results and minimize stress on the birds during vaccination.

Wing Web Administration in Chickens:

  • Rehydrate the vaccine as directed above.
  • Hold the bird and spread the underside of one wing outward to expose the wing web.
  • Insert the double-needle applicator into the vaccine bottle, allowing both needles to become charged with vaccine.
  • Pierce the exposed wing web with the charged double-needle applicator.
  • Reinsert the applicator into the vaccine vial to recharge both needles before vaccinating the next bird.
  • Avoid large blood vessels, bones, and wing muscles during administration.
  • Administer the vaccine only in the exposed wing web. Do not inject at any other site.

Vaccination Timing:

Vaccinate healthy chickens at 8 weeks of age or older and at least 4 weeks before the start of lay.

Withdrawal:

Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter.

Egg-Laying Birds: Vaccinate at least 4 weeks before the start of lay.

Storage:

Store unopened vaccine vials refrigerated at 35°F - 46°F (2°C - 8°C).
