Amplimune is a USDA-licensed immunotherapeutic treatment for neonatal calves 1 to 5 days of age. It is indicated for the reduction of mortality and clinical signs associated with calf scours caused by Escherichia coli (E. coli) K99.
Amplimune contains mycobacterium cell wall fraction (MCWF), an immunostimulant that stimulates non-specific innate immune response early in the disease process. It is administered as a single 1 mL intravenous (IV) dose per calf.
This product may be used as part of a calf scours management program and is commonly used as an alternative approach to traditional antibiotic therapy for enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC) K99 diarrhea.
Each calf receives one 1 mL intravenous dose.
Early treatment of colibacillosis should focus on managing bacterial challenge in the intestinal tract. Optimal administration:
Neonatal calves have an immature immune system and may be highly susceptible to enterotoxigenic E. coli infections, especially in cases of failure of passive transfer (FPT). Amplimune stimulates non-antigen specific defense mechanisms, enhancing innate immune response during early disease challenge.
How much Amplimune does each calf receive?
Each calf receives one 1 mL intravenous dose.
What vial size should I purchase?
Choose based on the number of calves you plan to treat. A 5 mL vial treats 5 calves, a 20 mL vial treats 20 calves, and a 100 mL vial treats 100 calves.
Is Amplimune an antibiotic?
No. Amplimune is an immunostimulant containing mycobacterium cell wall fraction (MCWF). It supports innate immune response and may be used as part of a scours management program.
What is the withdrawal period?
The meat withdrawal time is 21 days.
Can Amplimune be used with fluid therapy?
Yes. It may be used alongside supportive treatments such as fluid therapy under veterinary guidance.
