Product Details:
Each pack contains 6 doses a six month supply.
Novartis
(Lufenuron)
Program is a once-a-month flavor tabs for the prevention and control of flea populations in dogs and for the control of flea populations in cats.
Recommended for dogs and puppies 11-20 lbs in weight and for cats and kittens up to 6 lbs in weight.
Indications: Program flavor tabs are labeled for use in dogs and puppies six weeks of age and older for the prevention and control of flea populations. Program flavor tabs are indicated for use in cats and kittens six weeks of age and older for the control of flea populations.
Description: The active ingredient of Program flavor tabs is lufenuron. As an insect development inhibitor Program flavor tabs does not kill adult fleas but effectively and safely controls flea populations on your pet through a mode of action which breaks the flea’s life cycle at the egg stage.
Program works by sterilizing the female flea. When she lays eggs they will not hatch breaking the cycle of fleas where they start. You must treat all of the dogs and cats in the house with Program in order for this treatment to be effective. If you already have a flea infestation Program will bring it under control. You can prevent flea infestation by giving Program before you see fleas. Program also comes in a suspension form for cats. In multiple cat households each cat should be treated separately to ensure adequate dosing.
A New Weapon in the fight against Ringworm.
A report published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association indicated that the flea killer medication Program (Lufenuron) appeared to be affective against fungus in particular Ringworm (Microsporum canis) in infected dogs and cats. Traditionally fungal infections have been treated with the drugs griseofulvin and ketoconazole.
Program is used in veterinary medicine as a flea control treatment administered orally once per month. This is an exciting discovery that may mean Program will become the single best ringworm killer/control that has yet to be discovered. Program is easy to administer - just a single pill given orally once a month. And it is inexpensive available without prescription.
Effectiveness: initial reports indicate Program works quickly giving negative cultures in as little as 8 days!
Safety: Program exhibits no drug interactions so is safe for use on older pets pets with liver or renal problems or pets on any medication for diabetes or antibiotics. There is no bio-accumulation so there is no chance of lufenuron building up in the pet and causing a problem in the long term. It appears to be safe for use on kittens as young as 8 weeks well as pregnant and nursing queens.
