ASSURE/FeLV uses highly specific antibodies to quickly identify FeLV infected cats. ASSURE/FeLV has been optimized to use saliva whole blood plasma or serum specimens. When saliva is used as a sample cats actively shedding virus may be identified within 15-20 minutes without invasive sampling techniques. Rapid identification of these animals allows them to be separated from noninfected cats to prevent the spread of FeLV. Whole blood plasma or serum specimens may be used in a 7-10 minute format for detection of circulating antigen at any stage in the disease cycle even before clinical signs of infection are apparent.
