ScourGuard 4® KC Bovine Rota-Coronavirus Vaccine Killed Virus-Clostridium Perfringens Type C-Escherichia Coli Bacterin-Toxoid Protect Calves Before They Hit the Ground ScourGuard 4® KC is administered to the pregnant dam and has been protecting calves for more than 14 years. Cows and first-calf heifers administered ScourGuard deliver antibody-rich colostrum that protects against the major causes of calf scours: E. coli bovine rotavirus bovine coronavirus and Clostridium perfringens Type C. Approved Uses ScourGuard 4 is approved for the vaccination of healthy pregnant cows and first-calf heifers as an aid in passive maternal immunization of their calves against neonatal calf diarrhea caused by rotavirus coronavirus E. coli having the K99 pili adherence factor and Clostridium perfringens Type C. Key Advantages Scours is responsible for 62.1% of deaths among unweaned dairy calves.1 Losses don??t end there however as animals that survive can be set back permanently. Heifers that suffered scours early in life tend to enter the milking string later than heifers that remained scours-free as calves. Unfortunately despite good management almost all calves are exposed to one or more infectious agents that cause scours. Broad-spectrum ScourGuard delivers time-tested protection:
- Demonstrates reduced shedding of coronavirus in cows and rotavirus in calves
- Strong protection against rotavirus
- Delivers powerful tissue-friendly protection
Dosage/Administration Proper vaccination with ScourGuard 4 KC requires:
- Pregnant females to receive two 2-mL doses at least 2 weeks apart as their primary vaccination with the second dose given 2 to 3 weeks prior to calving
- Annual revaccination with a single dose 2 to 3 weeks before each subsequent calving is recommended
If cows have not calved within 40 days after their last dose then revaccination with a single dose is recommended. All vaccinations should be given intramuscularly in the muscular region of the neck. Precautions
